Music has deeply inspired artists through history. Kandinsky, perhaps most famously of all, put music at the heart of his painting. Basquiat listened obsessively to David Bowie’s ‘Low’ while painting in the studio; Matisse named his iconic book of prints ‘Jazz’; Freeman Vine’s hand carved guitars – part musical part sculpture.
