Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd September
10am – 6pm
A new exhibition of artworks by Iain Rayner entitled “A Knife Without A Blade That’s Missing Its Handle” will be displayed for the first time at Resort Studios 1-2 September 2018.
The two-day event showcases a selection of never-seen-before works that explore many of Iain’s preoccupations, including ego death, the nature of free will and an obsession with exceptional materials. It includes pencil drawings, monochromatic paintings, video, audio and text, mainly black and white and all made over the last two years.
Iain Rayner commented: “A Knife Without A Blade That’s Missing Its Handle could be described as a manifestation of my continuing struggle to celebrate the impulse to create objects. Perhaps it illustrates my personal Long, Dark Night of the Soul. Why have I dedicated my life to making art? How much is chance, how much is choice, how much was decided before I even put pencil to paper?”
Refreshments will be provided at a private view on Saturday 5pm-8pm and at an open Q&A session from 2.30pm on Sunday.
Further events are planned for Margate, Folkestone, Ashford and London later in the year.
