The artists and makers will be at the gallery over the course of the weekend, discussing their inspiration and the methods they use to create their work.

The exhibition will include examples of work developed through collaborations between members, and many of the works will be for sale. The Resortfolio 2017 will also be available, a limited edition of original prints by RESORT members,  framed or unframed with proceeds going to support the studio collective.

Helen Brooker: And With Our Many Voices

Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 March 2018
11am to 5pm
RESORT Project Space, 50 Athelstan Road, Margate CT9 2BH

You are invited to the Private View between 6pm and 9pm on Tuesday 6 March 2018

This exhibition by printmaker Helen Brooker celebrates the courage, tenacity and resistance of  women who embody the idea of modern day suffrage, often fighting for the rights   of other women, risking their own lives or being imprisoned for their actions. Her work incorporates the use of stitched textiles, since the activity of sewing and the tools required (needles, thread and scissors) hold significant symbolic references to repair, mending and restoration. All proceeds from the sale of handmade Afghan kites will be donated to Amnesty  International.

This exhibition is one of many events taking place around Thanet as part of POW! Festival of Arts 7 to 11 March 2018

Open Friday & Saturday 11am to 5pm, Sunday 12 to 4pm, other times by appointment

Photographer Eleanor Marriott is now based at Vortigern gallery on Lombard Street, following the success of her recent ‘Fragments of The Waste Land’ exhibition at the Pie Factory Margate.

Many of the photos from the original exhibition are on display at the Vortigern, including colourful images taken in India, and atmospheric shots of the Nayland Rock shelter where T.S. Eliot penned ‘The Waste Land’. The display will continually evolve with, for example, more images of women being added to mark International Woman’s Day and for the POW festival from 7-11 March.
