Bruno Grad
Bruno Grad (b.1987, Kent) is an artist based in Margate. Primarily working with painting and drawing, his practice explores the possibility of a distinctively religious artistic endeavour within the idiom of contemporary art.
Grad’s most recent oil paintings situate the intimate, personal and confessional within the language of abstraction. In this he follows Jewish tradition, seeking to encompass the spiritual within the everyday—the cosmic and the quotidian—where the diaristic, autobiographical emphasis can find its proper context within the divine scheme.
Grad received his degree in English Literature from King’s College, University of Cambridge (2009). His most recent exhibitions are Circling Around, Calder Contemporary Gallery (2025); Lido Open 2025, Lido Stores Margate; Standing Ground, Thames-side Studios Gallery (2024). Grad was selected for the inaugural Jewish Renaissance Artist Development Programme 2025.
