*FREE* lockdown playwriting workshop with Rosa Torr

*FREE* lockdown playwriting workshop with Rosa Torr

Join theatre-maker and playwright, Rosa Torr for this inventive and original workshop where in the space of two hours, you will develop the first draft of a script that can be performed online or developed into a full length play.

Book a free place here.

Rosa has given this workshop to many budding writers of all abilities over the course of lockdown and it has been used to create some exciting scripts, some of which have been submitted for playwriting competitions.

In this workshop you will be guided through a 12-step process to explore the possibilities of scriptwriting and get started! While theatre is at a stand-still for the foreseeable future, there is a big competition call out for mini-scripts that can be performed over zoom/online and this is the chance for those interested in this exciting new art form, whether as a professional or as a budding writer.

About Rosa:
Rosa Torr is a theatre-maker and writer with a decades worth of experience. Labelled ‘The Next Big Thing’ by Broadway Baby, her critically acclaimed shows have toured throughout the UK and Ireland. Her work engages with socio-political issues and experimenting with the theatrical form, with large doses of silliness thrown in. She leads Calder’s Writers Group, a monthly playwriting workshop and feedback session for emerging playwrights at Calder’s Bookshop and Theatre, London. Rosa has an MA in Writing for Performance and Dramaturgy (at distinction) from Goldsmiths University.

South East Creatives Panel Discussion with independent restaurants in Margate about their response to COVID-19

South East Creatives Panel Discussion with independent restaurants in Margate about their response to COVID-19

On behalf of South East Creatives, we spoke to three very different, independent food and restaurant businesses in Margate. We discussed what COVID-19 has meant for them and what they’re doing to survive during this time.

It was interesting to hear their perspectives, to share the lengths they are going to, changes they are making, or news they are waiting to hear.

BLM MARCH – ACROSS THANET *peaceful protest* June 13th, 12noon

BLM MARCH – ACROSS THANET *peaceful protest* June 13th, 12noon

* RULES *

– IF YOU ARE JOINING US PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU WEAR PPE! (face masks and bring hand sanitizer etc)
– IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID PLEASE STAY AT HOME !
– NO ALCOHOL POLICY! (this is a March not a party)
– WE MUST RESPECT SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES! (So if your turning up with friends or family make sure it’s a maximum of 6, as we want to try walk in groups of six)
– WE MUST REMAIN CALM, COLLECTED, RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS! (This is a peaceful march)

THIS IS A PEACEFUL PROTEST FOR THE JUSTICE OF GEORGE FLOYDS MURDER AND ALL THAT CAME BEFORE! FOR CHANGE! FOR UNITY! TO CONDEMN RACISM AND TO SHOW ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ! 🖤

Dress code is ALL BLACK, with one BRIGHT COLOURED item of clothing (this is our uniform, to give a sense of organisation and show we are together in solidarity and also respecting pride month)

We will walk from Ramsgate town centre to Margate sea front, safely as possible and respecting social distancing guidelines as much as possible.

When we arrive in Margate we will kneel for exactly 8 minutes 46 seconds in silence. (This is inhumane amount of time Derek Chauvin had his knee on George Floyds neck) This will be to show our respect for George, that lost his life to the racist mistreatment and brutality that the police and justice system delivered.

Forget about all the labels that they’ve given us, forget race, ethnicity, nationality this a HUMAN BEING PROBLEM and it’s WORLDWIDE.
So let’s stand together as one and show the world that they cannot divide us! We are sick and tired of racism! We are sick and tired of police brutality! We are sick and tired of racial profiling! We are sick and tired of the injustice! And it’s time for this bullshit to end! The world is in need of change! ❤️

Technology keeps advancing, what about society..

So come walk and stand up for change! Bring your kids, your parents, your grandparents whoever! All are welcome and how else are we suppose to understand racism if we don’t converse about these problems and show people just how wrong and unacceptable it is.

ONE LOVE, ONE PEOPLE ❤️💛💚

Resort Studios - Athelstan Road - Margate - Adam Scott

RESORT is excited to announce that the Athelstan Road Project will be launching soon, championing the cultural diversity of our location – a high density, multicultural and multilingual road and also our home. Bringing the local community together through the arts, we’ll have opportunities for all to participate whilst encouraging creative practitioners to consider how their work directly impacts others and promotes inclusivity.

This has only been made possible through support received from the Arts Council Emergency Response Fund, with a big thank you to the National Lottery players for making it possible for us to be funded.
